During this intensive full day workshop you will learn:
- How to identify and work with the most common musculoskeletal injuries
- Methods of assessments to perform with all new clients
- Program design for post rehab clients
- How to work with the medical community (chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, etc) to build your client base
5 components of workshop include:
- Introduction to Injuries: outline how the body heals, stages of inflammation, proliferation and remodelling. Timelines for specific tissues, and when the fitness professional should step in.
- Upper Quandrant: Injuries of the shoulder, including rotator cuff, AC joint separation. Anatomical considerations for specific movements and how to build the best program for the person in front of you.
- Lower Quandrant: ACL reconstruction, meniscus damage, patellofemoral syndrome. Anatomical considerations and why you should never do a leg extension unless you hate your clients.
- Spine: Mechanical analysis of the spine, movements that cause dysfunction and how to help reduce back pain across the population. Injuries covered include disc herniations, stenosis, and strains.
- Practical Component: Perform assessments to determine function of the area and what to do with the results. Also included will be exercises active mobilizations for specific areas of concern.

Dean is the Rehabilitation & Medical Fitness Coordinator for the World Health Club, a company with over 25 clubs across Alberta, Canada. He oversees the trainer education and Post-Rehabilitation program implementation alongside over 100 medical and allied health professionals, and works to create a continuum of health and wellness for both patients and clients. His personal clientele ranges from joint replacement rehabilitation, cancer treatment, metabolic dysfunction, general weight loss and elite athletic performance from a “function first” philosophy.
